You’re engaged and you’re ready to do the damn thing, but you’re not exactly sure how to handle the most seemingly impossible task: picking a wedding date. The right day can mean all the difference in a magical event, so it should be no surprise that couples spend months researching, weighing pros and cons, and putting careful thought into their decision. There are many factors to consider when choosing the day, such as season and weather, financial situations and personal preferences. As always, I’m here to help make it a little easier for you! Here are four tips for how to pick a wedding date:
Think about any dates that are special to your relationship. Are there any big events that have happened during your relationship? Maybe you met on June 12th or maybe your anniversary is coming up! Think if there are any dates that are significant to you and your partner that you may want to get married on that will add a little more romance and meaning to your wedding date.
Consider dates that won’t work. While you deserve to get hitched any damn way you please, you may want to think about dates that won’t work: either with your work schedule, religious holidays, etc.. Also consider other weddings that may have overlapping guests.
Narrow down a season. The time of year can help reflect the mood of your wedding so consider your personality and wedding aesthetic. Do you want a winter wedding to feel cozier with snowfall and holiday sparkle or would you prefer a spring wedding because of the increased amount of daylight hours and pastel colors? Thinking of rich color and mulled apple cider? Maybe a Fall wedding is perfect for you.
Talk to your dream vendors. If you have some vendors that you know you for sure want to use for your wedding (like your dream venue or photographer) reach out to them with some dates you are considering and check if their availability aligns!
Picking a wedding date can be hard, but it doesn’t need to be. Once you have a general idea of what you are looking for the rest will fall into place and you can plan your fairytale!
