Why You Should Take Engagement Photos

You may have noticed I automatically include engagement sessions in my wedding packages. Why? Because they’re freakin’ important! Look, I’m usually not one to force anyone to do anything, but I strongly encourage my couples to do an engagement session. They are a great chance for you to become comfortable in front of a camera and a great way for me to get to know you before we spend hourssss together on one of the most important days of your lives. Basically we get to hang out and get some awesome photos without any wedding day pressure. If you’re still not convinced, here are my top three reasons to do an engagement session:

1. Get to know me!  During your engagement session, we’ll have a chance to talk, swap stories, share laughs, and get to know each other on a more personal level, all of which help make the wedding day run that much smoother.

2. Get Comfortable being in front of the camera. Not a fan of having your photo taken? Unsure how to pose and not look uncomfortable? Don’t know where to put your hands? You’re not alone, most of us are uncomfortable around a camera (yes, even us photographers!). Engagement photos are a good way to get more relaxed and comfortable so you know what to expect for your wedding day. 

3. Document this exciting time in your lives. Being engaged is such a big milestone in your lives! An engagement session allows us to take some time off from stressing about your big day so I can capture some beautiful photos of you two as newlyweds! You will never regret having high quality photographs of your fairytale romance  to cherish and pass down to your family.

Bottom line is engagement sessions are rad. They’re an opportunity for couples to show themselves at their best and create beautiful images they can treasure forever. Engagement sessions will help you relax during your wedding day because they give you a chance to practice posing together and working with your photographer in a low-stress environment.
